Sheila Nayeli Clemente-Zoto
Sheila Nayeli Clemente-Zoto (she/he/they) is a Mexican-American artist based in Indianapolis, Indiana. They are currently pursuing a BFA in Integrative Studio Practice with a focus in Printmaking and Photography at the Herron School of Art and Design, along with minors in Art History and Book Arts. They plan to graduate in May 2026. Sheila’s creative journey began in childhood, watching their father make traditional beaded jewelry, an early influence that continues to shape their approach to material, process and storytellling. Their passion for making was nurtured through school, where they explored contemporary and traditional art making, as well as photography. Their work often explores themes of identity, community, and generational memory, particularly within Latine culture. They have exhibited in Tierras (2025), a show honoring Latine women and femme presenting individuals, and showcased their video art Un Amor (2025), at Kan-Kan Cinema. Through print exchanges, video art, and photography, Sheila creates not only artwork, but community, carrying forward their father’s belief that artists are voices for the people.
