Jay Grillo is a Mexican-American multidisciplinary documentarian, designer, and dancer based in Indianapolis, IN. Their creative practice spans documentary film, photojournalism, and digital design, often blending art and activism within everyday spaces. Jay is the founder of the collaborative storytelling studio Courier Creative, a mentee with LAMP (Indiana Latino Artist Mentorship Program), a core member of the STFU Artist Collective, and a performer with Grupo Folclórico Macehuani. They are a community-taught artist with almost a decade of professional creative experience.

As an organizer and artist, Jay has spent nearly a decade building a solidarity-first creative practice shaped through work with groups like the Indianapolis Liberation Center, Touch Grass Indy, and the Party for Socialism and Liberation. Their work is rooted in community organizing and liberatory archiving, inspired by the stories of everyday working-class people in their life. Themes of deconstruction and de-assimilation are threaded throughout, often centering collaboration with grassroots and cultural initiatives across the Midwest and Southwest.
